God sees in you what does not see
Searching the Scriptures
Before forming you in your mother's womb, I knew you, and before you were born, I had consecrated you, I had appointed you a prophet for the nations. I replied : Ah ! Lord Eternal, I cannot speak because I am too young. Jeremiah 1.5-6
The foundation of the mission entrusted by the Lord to Jeremiah rests on the knowledge of God. Jeremiah had not yet been conceived that the Lord had already consecrated him a prophet of the nations.
However, Jeremiah underestimates himself because he finds it difficult to believe in the destiny that God has in store for him. God created him for a specific purpose. Jeremiah is a divine choice, it does not come from him. God saw in Jeremiah what he did not see. Yet even if the choice is divine, the answer lies with this young man who can accept or refuse the mission entrusted to him.
Jeremiah, who is just 18, was afraid of this charge and he leaned on his youth to answer it. It must be understood that the call "Prophet for the Nations" will lead him to address the kings of Judah, but also to the leaders of foreign nations and to be constantly aware of the international political situation, hence his reaction ! He didn't feel up to such a task. He was too young to exercise a public ministry of this magnitude, according to him. Yet God believed in him !
It is the same for you. Indeed, the Lord knows you better than yourself, he was not mistaken in calling you. He sees in you what you don't see. Even if you don't feel up to it, don't say : "I'm too young, I'm not rich enough, I wasn't born in the right country, I'm not charismatic enough, etc." Just realize that God is with you.
Listen to the voice of God
Let's take the time to listen to what God means. God knows you perfectly. Ask him to show you what he sees in you that you don't see.
Praying is easy. Talk to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example prayer : "Lord, forgive me for devaluing myself. Help me to believe in the destiny you have planned for my life."
Praise God
To praise God is to show him our gratitude. Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a moment to thank the Lord.
Act today
Now dig deeper into what you have received. What can you do to apply what God has told you ? Write down the concrete actions you can take.
Honor the Lord
Our route for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.
"Thank you Lord, because you believe in me. Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory, amen !"
