God seemed distant to me

Friday March 19, 2021

I let myself be found by those who weren't looking for me, I revealed myself to those who asked me nothing. (Romans 10. 20)

God seemed distant to me

“I lost my parents when I was still a very young girl. My only family was my little brother and my little sister; I was four years old at the time. We were adopted by a Christian Ardèche family, full of love.

So I grew up in an environment where the Bible was familiar. My brother, sister and I also went to Sunday school, a kind of catechism. Our adoptive parents made a point of making the Lord Jesus known to us. We read the Bible every night as a family. I received my first personal Bible when I was 13 for my birthday. This book has never left me, I put it in my luggage when I had to leave my family to study.

So I experienced loneliness again. There, God, whom I thought I knew, seemed distant to me. My heart was dry, revolted against society. I only had an intellectual knowledge of the Bible.

One morning while I was at work, it suddenly revealed itself to my heart. I couldn't explain why, but since this "revelation" I have been transformed. As I read the Bible, I understood that the Lord had forgiven my sins and saved me, because I believed in him.

I was baptized in December 1973. Then I began to serve Jesus and testify for him. I met the one who would become my husband and together we want to continue serving our Lord and talking about him around us”.
