"When he has come, he, the Spirit of truth, he will lead you into all the truth ; for his words will not come from himself, but he will speak of all he has heard and tell you things to come." John 16.13
This may seem like an acquired foundation, but I think many still wonder if God really speaks to people.
Have you ever asked yourself this question ? Do you wonder if God will speak to you one day ? So, you'll be happy to know that the answer is yes.
"The Father gives the Holy Spirit to all who ask him..."
Shortly before ascending into heaven, Jesus told his disciples : "I have many things to say to you, but you can not understand them now. When he comes, he, the Spirit of truth, he will you will lead in all truth ; for his words will not come of himself, but he will speak of all that he hears, and will tell you things to come." (John 16.12-13)
When Jesus said that, he was speaking to the men with whom he had spent his last three years on earth... but he still had a lot to teach them. This is surprising, because I would tend to think that if Jesus had been personally with me, day and night, for three years, I would have learned all there was to know. But Jesus always has new things to teach us because the situations we face are constantly changing. He wants to lead us in these situations.
That's why he gave us the Holy Spirit - so we can hear God speak to us, even if he's not physically with us. Through Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit, God wants to speak to you alone in daily exchanges. He wants to lead you step by step in the good things he has planned for you. The Father gives the Holy Spirit to all who ask him (Luke 11:13).
I would like to say again and again that we can all hear the voice of God and be led daily by the Holy Spirit. So, are you going to listen ?
A prayer for today
Lord, I wish to be led by the Holy Spirit. I think you're talking to me and I want to know what you have to say to me.
