This is a powerful weapon for all of Jesus' disciples : to shout ! Shout with all your heart, as David did (see Psalms 34: 6). Go to the Lord and confess your sin and appeal to His goodness, saying : "Lord, I know that you love Me and that you are ready to forgive me. I repent before you now."
At the precise moment when you confess, you are pure before God. It is futile to think that you can repay your sin in any way. God loves you so much that He gave His Son, Jesus, who has already paid for everything. Your Lawyer full of grace and love longs to help you and deliver you : "My little children, I write these things to you, that you may not sin. And if anyone has sinned, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous" (1 John 2: 1).
I was walking with my granddaughter, Tiffany. She was walking on a small concrete wall. I was holding her from behind so she would not fall, but she was trying to take my hands off. Finally, I dropped her and she fell, without hurting herself. When she fell, I did not leave her, of course. I did not say : "Look what you did. You're not mine anymore !" No grandparent would do that.
The Lord showed me through this experience : "David, you allow yourself to have so much love for this child. But, at times, you do not allow me to love you in the same way. You're swollen with pride in front of your children, but at times you do not allow me to be proud of you."
I have heard the Lord address a tender word to my heart. He said : "My son, you bless me. You blessed my heart !" No one has ever told me anything more beautiful in my life. And I know that this word is true. God takes pleasure in his children (Psalms 147: 11).
