God wants to do the impossible

Why did God wait for Abraham and Sarah to be old to give them a son ? Why did he wait until the situation became impossible humanly speaking and only faith in him can bring the promise ? It is because this seed was to be born entirely by faith.

Abraham and Sarah both knew God's incredible promise to give them a son, but their faith was not yet ripe. Sarah became impatient and came up with a plan that Abraham accepted. Ishmael was born and, although it is true that he is the offspring of Abraham, he was not the promised heir. In a reversal of human nature, Sarah then became angry with her husband and blamed him out of jealousy. They both tried to fulfill God's promise by their own efforts (see Genesis 16: 1-15).

Perhaps you are wondering why your promise has not been fulfilled yet. You try to guess how God will respond to your need, focusing only on obstacles rather than possibilities.

Abraham and Sarah received their child, their miracle, but only when they were fully convinced that God would fulfill the promise in His own way and in His time. We know that they became strong in the faith, but only after stumbling - and Ishmael was the sign of this lack of faith. Later, however, it was said about Abraham : "He did not doubt, in disbelief, about the promise of God ; but he was strengthened by faith, giving glory to God, and having the full conviction that what he promises he can also fulfill" (Romans 4: 20-21).

Beloved, all the indecisions you can know come from disbelief. Do not try to understand things or discuss different possibilities with yourself. To have faith is to have abandoned all your arguments and to be fully convinced that God will hold His Word. He wants to do the impossible because the more the situation seems impossible, the more the glory returns to Him !
