God wants to fill your spirit

Search the Scriptures

This is why we too, since the day we were informed, we do not stop praying to God for you. We ask that you be filled with the knowledge of his will, in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. Colossians 1:9

Paul prayed for the churches. Most of his epistles relate to specific prayers that the Holy Spirit had him say for the churches. Here Paul tells us about a particular prayer he offered for the faithful church in Colosse.

Paul prayed for the Church to be filled with knowledge. The word "filled" in Greek is pleroo and it describes a fillet that is bursting at the seams. He brings the idea of a net that was already full, but whose contents had to be squeezed and packed to fill it even more. Also, the Greek word for knowledge is epignosis, and it means discernment or complete knowledge of the will of God. God wants your mind to be fully filled with the understanding He wants things to be made of.

But Paul's prayer is not limited to natural understanding and insight. He goes on to explain that he wants the Church to have all spiritual wisdom and intelligence as well. This expression comes from the Greek word sophia. This word means insight, spiritual understanding and spiritual intelligence. Christians should have spiritual insight. God does not hide his ways from his children, but they are hidden from Satan and the world.

Listen the voice of God

Let's take the time to listen to what God wants to say. Let the Holy Spirit fill you now, and renew your thinking.

Praying is simple. Speak to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example of a prayer : "Lord, let me know and understand your will ever better. May the Holy Spirit grant me wisdom and spiritual discernment."

Praise God

To praise God is to express our gratitude to him. Thinking about it a bit, it is very likely that the Holy Spirit has already suggested good decisions to you several times to make, or rejected some that were not according to God's will, right ? Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a time to thank the Lord.

Act today

Now, deepen what you have received. What are the concrete decisions you would like to make to be more attentive to the Holy Spirit each day and renew your way of thinking ?

Honor the Lord

Our journey for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.

"Heavenly Father, Thank you for your Holy Spirit. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen !"
