God wants to show his mercy to the world

Search the Scriptures

Give and it will be given to you : a good measure will be poured into the skirt of your garment, packed, shaken and overflowing, because the same measure will be used for you as the one you used. Luke 6.38 Segond Version 21

This verse is often used in the context of offerings for the work of the Lord. Yet, although it contains a principle about money, Jesus was not talking about that first when he made this statement.

To understand what he was talking about, let's look at verses 35-37 :

"But love your enemies, do good and lend without expecting anything in return. Your reward will be great and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and to the wicked. So be full of compassion, just like your Father (also) is full of compassion. Do not judge and you will not be judged ; do not condemn and you will not be condemned ; forgive and you will be forgiven."

Jesus wanted us to grasp this truth : if you give forgiveness, love and mercy, they come back to you in good measure, heaped, shaken and overflowing.

He wants you to understand that to the extent that you offer these things, these same gifts will come back to you. Likewise, if you judge and condemn others, guess what will be returned to you ?

Make a commitment today to become a merciful person, seeking nothing in return. Make yourself known as someone who reflects our merciful God in a broken world desperate for hope.

Listen the voice of God

Do you want to be a witness of God's mercy ? Let God speak to you about it.

God has given us the best, his only son, and he expects generosity from us towards others : "Lord, I want to follow your example and love like you. Help me to show generosity and mercy. towards my neighbour. I no longer want to judge or condemn others. Amen."

Praise God

God is full of compassion for you, he does not judge you or condemn you. Think back to all the times you have benefited from his great mercy. Praise him and bless him with all your heart for his immense and eternal love for you !

Act today

What can you put in place today to commit or re-commit to becoming a merciful person ? Get started with your loved ones, your neighbors, your colleagues. The more you practice loving the grumps as well, the easier it will become.

Honor the Lord

Our journey for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.

"Thank you Lord for your great mercy towards me. To you be the kingdom, the power and the glory, amen !"
