God will never give up you

“Does not leave me, does not give up me, Godof my safety! Because my father and my mother give up me, but the Eternal will collectme. ” Psalms 27.9-10




What could be more tragic than to beabandoned by his/her father or his mother? Ihave, one day, heard this sentence of an young woman who said… “All that my father gave mein the life, it is a spermatozoïde”.

Is that sad, isn't? And what to say fathers ormothers who gave up, maltreated or worse,deceived one their children? Because of ourexperiments, the image which we have of “ourfather who is with the skies” is very often deformed. Some imagine God like a fatherfouettard, absent, not involved, compassionlack or worse, enjoying to make us suffer.

It was the case of David who, in his prayer,said to God: “Does not leave me, does not give up me”, as if its image of God were distorted. But just after that, realizing that God is differentfrom his parents, he will say: “Because myfather and my mother give up me, but theEternal will collect me.”

You see, even if your father or your mothergives up you, God will never give up you. On the contrary, it will collect you. God is love. Heis good. He is sympathizing. Such 'is its divinenature. He is responsible neither for yoursufferings, nor of those of this world, whichchose to live far from him. On the contrary God,your good dad, wishes really to surround you byhis arms of love, you to comfort, you to raiseand encourage you.

David himself hoped in a rich and happy life, in spite of what he lived. He believed in kindnessof God, as shows it verse 13 of the samePsalm: “Oh! If I were not sure to contemplatethe kindness of the Eternal on the ground of thealive ones! …” David had a certainty: it was to contemplate the kindness of the Eternal on theground of the alive ones. Its hope was not onlyfounded on what was going to occur after thisterrestrial life, but it knew that God was goingto visit it and renew his kindness here below


It can be the same about it for you: in spite ofthe abandonment, in spite of the difficulties ofthis life, be assured (E) that kindness of Godare renewed each morning (see Lamentations3.22-23).

A prayer for today

Lord, thank you for this hope which you put inme. In spite of the difficulties and the concernof the life, your Word promises to me that youhave kindness some concerning me, and thatthose are renewed even each morning. Youpromise never to give up me, and I believe it. Thank you my God!
