Good and bad news

“Gospel” means “Good News.” It is the news of salvation that God offers us in Jesus Christ. He gave his life as a sacrifice for our sins so that God could forgive us and grant us eternal life.

This is truly Good News. But it is good because there was bad news : that of perdition and hell for all those who refuse to believe in Christ.

Jesus said : If you do not believe that I am he, you will die in your sins (John 8.24). So, Beware of refusing to hear him who speaks from heaven. What a warning ! Let us take it seriously. In the Bible, it is said more than 2000 times that God spoke to men. Refusing to listen to Him, who is truly the author of this book, charges us with an unforgivable fault, unless we repent.

Certainly, speaking of the Good News of God's love is easier than saying that He is also a consuming fire (Hebrews 12:29). However, not speaking of the coming judgment, of perdition and of hell would be guilty and very serious. So, do not let your unbelief dominate you and lose you.

Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts (Hebrews 3:15).
