Grow in the knowledge

"Grow in the grace and knowledge." 2 Peter.3.18

In this verse, Peter warns Christians against "ignorant and unskillful people twisting the meaning of the Scriptures" (2 Peter 3:16).

Grow in knowledge by deeply digging the Word of God to sit down your life on the rock.

Unfortunately, some problems of the first century church are still relevant. That is why Peter encourages the church to grow, not only in grace, but also in knowledge.

A few years ago, we visited a medieval castle, as a family. Accompanied by a guide, we had an explanation that interested me. At the time of the construction of the castle, the masons had to dig to the rock to establish the foundations. Like any long-time Christian, I know the passage of the sage building his house on the rock to face the storms of life. But this guide has shown me another facet.

Indeed, the masons did not build so deep only for the purpose of making the castle solid against the weather, but also to prevent the invasion of enemies. It must be known that one of the techniques of war was to dig an underground gallery to go to the foundations of a castle. Then it was enough for the enemy to light a brazier in order to soften the base of the edifice, this caused a landslide sufficient to open a door. The only way to thwart this Machiavellian plan was to build the castles on a rock. Thus, in constructing their gallery, the invaders found themselves arrested by the rock.

Therefore, grow in knowledge by deeply digging the Word of God in order to sit your life on the rock. By doing this you will be safe against false doctrines.

Action for Today

I take my Bible, a sheet and a pen for each day set aside a time to study Scripture in a spirit of prayer.
