"Gym" and diet (1)

Don't you know that the competitors in the stadium run in the stadium all run, but only one wins the prize ? Run to win it. 1 Corinthians 9:24

Rather, practice piety. 1 Timothy 4: 7

Sport is the dream of many young people... Who has never dreamed of being a star in athletics, of shining at a world football championship or of winning a medal at the Olympic Games ? To hold a cup in his hands or clutch a medal on his chest, what preparation, what training !

High performance athletes train to win a prize, to win a competition. They are doing everything they can to achieve this goal. The life of a top-level champion is demanding. For example, how much work, training, suffering and hardship requires a runner of 100 meters for 10 seconds of running ! To improve mental and physical performance, the athlete must discipline his life in all areas and exercise every day.

Likewise, the discipline of Christian life and practice are inseparable. The apostle Paul reminds Timothy of this principle : Train yourself in godliness : for physical exercise is useful for little, but godliness is useful for all things, having the promise of the present life and of the life to come (1 Timothy 4:7,8). The apostle compares godliness with exercise, adding that the latter's usefulness is limited. On the other hand, piety - to be totally attached to God, to train to live one's faith - this is essential : it is useful to all and in all circumstances, since the promise of the present life and of the future life rests on it.

As the athlete develops his body through repeated exercises and rigorous training, the believer forms and grows in godliness, a living, healthy, active godliness. It is the source of a powerful testimony. Christians are watched by those around them as closely as runners in a stadium. The slightest fault is noted !

Let's train like we want to win a race ! Let us run for a prize and for the Lord to be glorified : my victory is his victory !
