Harmony of thoughts between the Father and the Son

"Jesus said to them : When you raise up the Son of man, then you will understand that it is I and I do nothing of myself, but that I speak according to what the Father taught me." John 8. 28

The will of the Father and of the Son were in perfect harmony, down to the smallest details. Thus the Lord at the tomb of Lazarus did not hesitate to give thanks even before Lazarus, the dead man, could move one of his members : "Father, I thank you for what you have done Heard" he said, raising his eyes to the top (John 11:41).

When Jesus was taken to the garden of Gethsemane, he said to Peter, who would defend him with his sword : "Thinkest thou that I can not pray to my Father, and he will instantly furnish me with more than twelve legions, Angels ? How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, according to which this must happen ?" (Matthew 26: 53, 54). But he did not make this request, for he was of the same mind with his Father to go to Golgotha ​​and perform the work "that takes away the sin of the world."

Jesus lets himself be nailed to the cross by men filled with hatred who have done him before possible all the evil possible. There, he is still the object of mockery. The most terrible moments, however, come when the darkness falls upon the country at midday.

After so much suffering on the part of men, it is now God's wrath against our sin that afflicts him in our place : "He who has not known sin has done it for us, That in him we should become righteousness of God" (2 Corinthians 5:21). No one can penetrate, even feebly, into the sufferings that lead him to exclaim : "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me ?" God could not answer, for judgment must have its full fulfillment. It is only at the end of these three hours of darkness that the Lord can say "It is fulfilled !" And return his mind to his Father, conscious of having accomplished his work in full harmony with him.

But he did not remain in the tomb : "the Father of glory" raised him from the dead and made him sit at his right hand in the heavenly places (Ephesians 1:17, 20).
