Good physical health begins with good food. Eating properly is therefore an important concern of our lives. It is also true for our spiritual health and growth : we need spiritual nourishment to maintain good spiritual health.
But many Christians of all ages lack spiritual appetite. Why ? Because each one nibbles here and there among what the world, of which we know the prince, offers so abundantly to all.
There are foods for all tastes, not necessarily bad in themselves. But these things can occupy us in an exaggerated way. He likes to play football, music, mathematics (but yes !), And so on. Nothing wrong with these activities, provided they do not become devouring passions.
In addition, the media seek to satisfy all appetites, even the most degrading. On the radio, on television, in the literature, everything is not bad. But some programs, some books can sully internally Christians, not to mention the internet, now the main source of moral pollution.
It is therefore necessary that the believer should refrain from what is manifestly contrary to his nature as a child of God. He will also be careful not to disperse his attention to a multitude of subjects that eventually take up the place that Christ should occupy. For it risks losing the appetite for the Word of God, the time to read it, the taste for savoring it. It can wane spiritually, and become an easy prey for temptations.
To regain spiritual appetite, it is necessary to put oneself on a diet : to avoid the unhealthy food of the world and to feed on regular, sufficient, balanced and quality spiritual nourishment. The basis of this food is the Bible, which reveals God and his thoughts.
It is a true food (Deut. 8: 3), complete (1 Pet. 2: 2) and ... delightful (first verse of the day). Who can describe its flavor ? You must taste it to appreciate it !
