He descended !

He who is of divine condition, he did not regard his equality with God as a spoil to be preserved, but he stripped himself by assuming the condition of a servant, by becoming similar to human beings. Philippians 2.6-7

The neighborhood we live in is at a slightly higher elevation than the downtown area where we work. In winter, the sun sometimes brightens and warms the atmosphere of our neighborhood pleasantly, while in town, near the river, a gray and cold fog grips us with its humidity. In that case, we don't like going down there and wouldn't do it for a walk !

Jesus Christ, meanwhile, left the heavens where he reigned, surrounded by the glory of God his Father. He chose to descend into our poor world where everything is going wrong. It wasn't a walk for him! To be born in a manger, to experience the humiliation and rejection of men, then to die like a criminal on a cross, he the King of heaven...

Why did he willingly stoop down to accomplish God's planned rescue plan ? He who never knew evil, endorsed all the evil committed by the whole world and agreed to die on the cross in order to atone for our sins. He was “punished” in our place to save us. What a huge sacrifice !

But the story does not end there, because he is resurrected he is alive forever. He is supremely elevated, having resumed his glorious throne in heaven where he reigns above EVERYTHING !

2.11 and that every tongue recognize that Jesus Christ is the Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
