He is OUR Father
Search the Scriptures
This, then, is how you should pray : Our Father who art in heaven! Hallowed be thy name. Matthew 6.9
The two most important words in this model prayer are : "Our Father".
The first thing to remember is that we pray “One Father”. The world is not the result of a combination of circumstances, it is not the simple play of material powers that no one can understand or control. We are not the fruit of simple impulses but living human beings, created in the image of a God who loves us, who cares for us. God, our Father.
Behind every element of this world dwells a living and eternal being who is our Father. He is in command. He created the world, created us. Knowing this makes all the difference in how we approach life, situations and circumstances.
We do not have to feel alone and useless, in danger, because everything is in the hands of the Father.
Even more, he is “our” Father. He has many children and we are one of them. Let's keep in mind that the others are also part of it. We have to think of them and take care of each other, be considerate of each other, help each other. He calls us to love one another with the same love with which he loves us. Remember : he is our Father.
Listen the voice of God
Let's take the time to listen to what God wants to say. Let God give you a new revelation of his Fatherly love for you.
Praying is simple. Speak to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example of a prayer : "Lord, you are not only the creator of this world but you are also a loving Father. Thank you for this grace that you grant me to consider me as your child. You are our Father. Amen."
Praise God
To praise God is to express our gratitude to him. Today, realizing that you are the child of this loving and almighty God, what are you grateful for ? Take a time to thank the Lord.
Act today
Now, deepen what you have received. Knowing that God fills you with his love as a Father, how can you testify to his love, in turn… which person could you help or encourage today ? By what concrete action ?
Honor the Lord
Our journey for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.
"Heavenly Father, help me to love as you love and to pray for others to join our family. Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory, amen !"
