He is risen ! He is risen !
“Now, if Christ has not been raised, your faith is useless, you are still in your sins.” 1 Corinthians 15. 17
Paul writes: “We proclaim that Christ rose from the dead : how then do some of you say that the dead will not be raised ? If so, neither is Christ risen ; and if Christ is not risen, we have nothing to proclaim and you have nothing to believe. In addition, it turns out that we are false witnesses of God since we have certified that he resuscitated Christ... And if Christ is not risen, your faith leads nowhere and you are still in full swing. in your sins... If we have placed our hope in Christ only for this life, then we are the most to be pitied of all human beings. But, in reality, Christ rose from the dead, thus giving a guarantee that those who died will also be resurrected” (1 Corinthians 15, 12-20). But what does the resurrection of Christ prove ?
1- That God validated the work of His Son : "He was manifested Son of God with power when He was raised from the dead" (Romans 1.4). God sort of ratified His earlier statement : “This is My beloved son ; in Him I find all My joy” (Matthew 3:17).
2- That our salvation is guaranteed. Without the resurrection, the death of Jesus on the cross would only mean one thing : that he is indeed dead ! Paul had no doubts about this. He categorically states : “If Christ has not been raised from the dead, your faith will lead nowhere” !
3- How alive is our hope of being regenerated one day and united forever with Christ. Peter affirms : “He made us reborn to a living hope, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Peter 1.3). Through baptism we are associated with His death ; by His resurrection we are united to Him spiritually. Paul then emphasizes the need to live a life that honors Him (Colossians 3, 1-4). Encourage yourselves with His promise that He will return and that we will then share in the glory of His resurrection !
