He will not allow our feet to falter

I raise my eyes to the mountains... Where will my help come from ? My help comes from the Eternal, who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to falter ; he who watches over you will not slumber. Psalm 121:1-3

Here the psalmist contemplates the mountains in their majesty and in their greatness then he asks a question : "from where will my help come ?" He then remembers the great creator, the one who formed the mountains, the seas and the whole earth, and he rejoices in knowing that this creator is also the one who helps him.

He said : "Help comes to me from the Eternal, who made heaven and earth." The same God who created these mighty wonders that we witness in creation created us. Not only did he create us, but he wants us to survive, to preserve us. He will not allow our foot to falter. He who guards us does not sleep.

I once had this image of a little boy in his father's arms, clutching at the lapel of his jacket for fear of falling, then after a while he nosed over and fell asleep , his hand letting go of the lapel, but his father held him just as securely, whether he was clinging to him or not.

It is a picture of our relationship with God. Sometimes we think we should cling tightly to God, but when we fall asleep, God holds us just as tightly, even if our hand falls. He who watches over us neither sleeps nor slumbers. He is the great creator.

Listen the voice of God

Let's take the time to listen to what God wants to say. Maybe you are going through a difficult situation right now, God is not letting go of your hand.

Praying is simple. Speak to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example of a prayer : "Lord, in you I find refuge. And even though I no longer have the strength to hold on, you protect me and cover me under your wings. Amen."

Praise God

To praise God is to express our gratitude to him. Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a time to thank the Lord.

Act today

Now, deepen what you have received. What can you put in place to apply what God has told you ? Write down concrete actions you can take.

Honor the Lord

Our journey for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.

"Father, thank you, for your eyes are constantly fixed on me, your child. Yours is the reign, the power and the glory, amen !"
