Heal my soul

"A woman who had a blood loss for twelve years came up from behind and touched the edge of her garment [Jesus' garment] ; for she said : If only I touch her garment, I will be healed. Jesus turned, saw her, and said : Good luck, my daughter ; your faith has healed you." Matthew 9. 20-22

The woman mentioned above is one of those people who followed Jesus hoping to be healed. There were many, indeed, blind, disabled, lepers, paraplegics, the possessed of all kinds... all more or less reduced to begging, who were waiting for something from the Son of God. When he sees them, he is "moved with compassion".

These crowds are a picture of the human family of all time. These physical diseases often return the image of the diseases of the soul that eat away at human beings and condemn them before God. Jesus is always ready to listen personally to anyone who comes to express his despair.

Driven by the desires of our own sinful nature, Paul said : "You were dead in your sins and in your sins" (Eph 2 : 1). In this situation, one needs to receive an entirely new life, the divine life. This is what God gives in Jesus Christ : "God... even though we were dead in our sins, quickened us together in Christ" (Eph 2 : 4).

Possessing eternal life and waiting for the coming of Jesus (who will resurrect or transform our body), yet we remain alive in our human condition, but the sin that characterizes it has lost its power over us.

The healing of our soul is then on the way. "The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death" (Rom 8 : 2). God has begun a good work in me and will bring it to a good end (Phil 1 : 6). It will transform me by the renewal of my understanding to the extent that I will present myself ready to obey him in everything (Rom 12 : 1, 2). The healing of the depths of my soul to make me grow in the freedom of Christ is the process of learning that God is now implementing (Hebrews 12 : 4-11).

The Lord Jesus is the perfect savior that God has given us : "He can save all who come to God through him : he is still alive to make intercession for them" (Heb. 7 : 25). Let's get closer !
