Help others grow !

"And what thou hast heard of me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust it to faithful men, who are able to teach it also to others." 2 Timothy 2.2

If you want a special blessing from God on your life, you must be taught by believers who are more mature than you, and at the same time serve as mentors to others younger than you in faith.

A mentor is a friend, someone who listens ...

Every Christian needs both a Paul and a Timothy. A Paul is someone who has been walking with God for longer than you and who is training and encouraging you. Even if this person has only one more month of Christian life than you, she has more experience and can help you progress.

Having a Timothy means contributing to the building of someone who has been a Christian for a shorter time than you. You encourage and guide him in his walk with the Lord.

So you have a Paul and a Timothy in your life. But you are also a Paul and a Timothy for someone else.

In 2 Timothy, Paul writes : "And what you have heard of me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust it to faithful men, who are able to teach it also to others" (2 Timothy 2: 2).

Four generations are present in this verse. Paul contributed to the growth of Timothy ; he or she must in turn find someone to serve as a mentor, after which the individual will do the same with another.

Do not be impressed by the term "mentor". You can play this role simply by inviting the person to have a breakfast with you once a month to get news of it. A mentor is a friend, someone who listens, who encourages and who prays for the other. You do not need to be a perfect Christian. Just be available and ready. God will bless you beyond what you can imagine.

Action for Today

You can help others grow in faith today and become a Paul and a Timothy for someone. Ask God to help you identify these two types of people and decide to practice this verse of 2 Timothy 2.2.
