Now the law intervened so that offense abounded, but where sin abounded, grace abounded more. Romans 5.20

His grace overflows

In summary, God's law tells us to love him and to love our neighbor. But we cannot create this love or even command it. The law prescribes good but does not produce it ! She shows it, demands it, demands it in all of us... who don't have it. It tells us not to do evil, but this only has the effect of exposing it abundantly in ourselves.

How could this law remove sin by prohibiting it from a nature which is inclined to it and is captive to it ? It is not that the divine law is bad since it indicates justice... but, alas, it reveals all the offense of our faults and condemns us.

God's grace is different. She does not demand good but creates and multiplies it where sin abounds ! It does not condemn the guilty but forgives and removes their sin. It does so through the one who is its source : Jesus Christ !

By welcoming him as your savior, you will be transformed : the grace of God will inhabit you and act where you could do nothing before. In your faith in Christ, his forgiveness will erase your trespasses against God, and purify you. The grace offered by Jesus will give you the strength and the desire to do good that pleases God. For sin will have no power over you, since you are not under the law, but under grace, the apostle Paul will say (Romans 6.14).
