His Word can renew your intelligence...

“Be transformed by the renewal of your intelligence.” Romans 12. 2

Why do you want to “renew your intelligence” ? Because if you don't, you risk retaining your slave mentality, like the Israelites came out of the land of Egypt. They had left the land that had oppressed them for many centuries, but even free and under divine protection, they never ceased to dream of what they had given up, embellishing every detail of their previous life. Especially when the circumstances were a bit different from what they had imagined! It took them over forty years to get rid of the baggage of the past that they had been carrying around since leaving Egypt. The Greek word translated as “to renew” (metemorphote, which gave metamorphosis) is interesting because it is used by every evangelist to describe a somewhat different event : that of the transfiguration of Jesus. John Piper points out that it is possible "not to conform to the ways of this world" without being transformed inside. During the transfiguration “His face shines like the sun, His clothes became white like the light” (Matthew 17.2). This is the objective of the “renewal of our intelligence”, according to the apostle : to become spiritually similar to Jesus, waiting for the day when this transformation will become real, outwardly, or, as Jesus declares it, from the pen of Matthew : “Then the righteous will shine like the sun in their Father's kingdom” (Matthew 13.43). So transform your mind by immersing yourself in His Word every day. It contains all of God's promises to you, but you still need to know them ! His Word for you today is : accept His promises and you will be transfigured more every day in His likeness !
