Hold on tight !

It was by faith that he (Moses)... stood firm, as seeing him who is invisible. Hebrews 11:27

The life of Moses can be summed up in a few words : "He held on."

He stood firm despite the outrages of Pharaoh, the most powerful of monarchs. He held on despite the stupidity, the murmurs, the reproaches and the rebellion of the Hebrews. He held on despite criticism from Miriam and Aaron, his own family. He held on despite negative reports from ten spies returning from the Promised Land who said : "The giants are too big, and we are too small" (Numbers 13.33).

The secret of Moses ? "It was by faith that he showed himself firm as seeing him who is invisible". His eyes were fixed on God, not on people! Paul gives us the keys to success : "Stand firm after overcoming everything." (Ephesians 6:13)

Hang on when your enemies seem to be thriving. Hang on when the bad guys seem to win. Stand up against the mediocrity of the big guys and the illegitimate ambition of the little ones. Be firm and don't give in to any compromise.

"Hold on tight ! Moses held on despite his 80s because he saw 'the invisible one'."

How is your spirituality doing ? Do you feel that your strengths have become weaknesses ? Are you giving in to temptation, fear, your mood swings ? Do you follow the opinions of others because you are tired of their disapproval ? Hold on tight !

Moses held on despite his 80 years because he saw "the invisible one." He did not take his eyes off the Lord. He never forgot that the sole purpose of his life was to please God, obey him, glorify him and gain his approval.

Advice for today

So here is your word of the day : hold on tight !
