Honored, but not exalted !

“We have this treasure in earthen vessels.” 2 Corinthians 4. 7

If God has called you to a particular task, it means that you will have to answer more for your actions, for Jesus said : “More will be required of him to whom much is entrusted” (Luke 12:48). But then make no mistake : those whom God has called to accomplish His purposes in a specific area are no different in essence from other believers. One who prays with power or one who preaches the Word of God with great success is not immune to the temptations and difficulties that beset everyone else. You may not know the battles they face every day, but these battles do exist ! This is when you have to differentiate between "treasure" and "earthenware". If you are in a leadership position, do not allow anyone to believe that you are the treasure. Watch your ego ! Paul wrote : “We have this treasure...” ; he didn't say : "We are that treasure..." We have to admit it, God uses people we would never have chosen, like Rahab who worked in the red zone in Jericho ! But when she placed her trust in God, He used her to win the battle of Jericho, before including her in the family of Christ. And what to think of Jephthah, born a bastard, rejected by his family, and who chooses to live in a den of brigands surrounded by his band of bloodthirsty mercenaries ? God used him to deliver Israel and made him the youngest judge of His people. All examples of the extraordinary grace of our God ! God is a famous expert in restoring broken vessels. He takes hold of things that don't work anymore, broken marriages, twisted characters and transforms them to make them productive for His service and able to achieve victory after victory. Knowing this, we must show tenacity and courage to face any battle, for we are sure that if God has placed His treasure in us, He will do everything to protect it, to honor it and to make it prosper for the sake of it. His greatest glory !
