How do we expect it ?

He (Christ) will appear a second time, having nothing to do with sin, to those who are waiting for him, for their salvation. Hebrews 9:28

Behold, I am coming soon. Revelation 22:7

During the last world war, a British bomber was returning from a mission over Hitler's Germany. He had been hit by enemy fire, and the rest of the squadron had long since returned. Painfully above the North Sea, he advanced alone, gradually losing height. The pilot and the navigator were talking to each other. “My wife is waiting for me at the air base, she must think we are lost,” said the pilot. “My wife is also expecting me,” the navigator added. And then, miraculously, they were able to land at the airfield. The pilot jumped out of his cabin and, in the night, he saw at the edge of the track a form tormented by the wind, which was waiting : it was his wife. What reciprocal joy ! The navigator descended in turn. He entered the officers' room and, looking through the glass door, he saw his wife asleep in an armchair with a novel on her lap. When he opened the door, she woke up saying : "Oh, honey, I've been waiting for you !"

How do we wait on the Lord ? Asleep in our little pleasures, in our comfort, in our warmth, with the world on our knees but also in our hearts ?

So I suggest to you that we all go in the wind, in the gust, over there on the edge of the track, and that we wait for him, the one who returns from heaven, the Lord Jesus. Behold, I am coming soon, he said. We really don't have much longer. He is the most beautiful of the sons of men, the incomparable Son of God. No one has ever loved us as much as he. No one but him prepares glorious and eternal bliss for us.

If it is true that out of love for us he went to the cross and descended into death. If it is true that he is risen, and that he is coming soon, well, let's drop what is on our knees, in our hands, before our eyes, in our hearts, and go out to meet him !
