It must be sought by prayers full of fervor and faith.
Jesus said : "If, then, as you are, you know how to give good things to your children, the heavenly Father will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him" (Luke 11:13 ).
Someone will say : "I prayed and He did not come." It's because you do not pray properly. "When you ask, you do not receive because you ask badly, in order to satisfy your passions" (James 4:3). Your mobiles are not good. A Christian should ask the Spirit to become more helpful and glorify God, not to be happier himself. You should examine yourself, and see if your prayers are not tainted with selfishness.
Use the proper ways to wake up your mind and focus your attention. If a man asks the Spirit and then turns to other things, if he does not use other means besides the prayer, but after doing it he goes to take care of worldly things he tempts God, he abandons his goal, and it would be a miracle if he got what he asks for.
How can a sinner be convinced of sin ? It is thinking of his sins. This is also the way in which a Christian deepens his impressions, thinking of his object.
God will not pour out His graces on you without an effort on your part. You must carefully cultivate your impressions, even the lightest ones. Take the Bible, go through the passages that show the condition and the future of the world ; cast your eyes on humanity, on your children, on your neighbors, and see their state as long as they persist in sin. Then persevere in prayer and in your efforts, until the Spirit of God takes possession of you.
