Husband, do you find it easy to love your wife ?

“Husbands, love your wife as Christ loved the Church. He gave himself for her. ” Ephesians 5:25

Judging by the number of divorces, even between Christians, the biggest challenge for a man is to love his wife until death does part them. To be successful, the only solution for the husband is to agree to die for her ! The Bible demands it. Jesus truly gave His life for you. Would you agree to do the same for your wife ? To help you, consider these three realities :

1- Loving him to the point of considering his aspirations as more important than yours must be the result of a choice, not an obligation. Jesus didn't have to sacrifice Himself, He chose to do it for you. If you want to earn her respect and love, she must feel that this is the reason for your daily efforts, and not a feeling of guilt or obligation.

2- If you are used to being first in your relationship and usually getting what you want, you will need a lot of time and patience to let it come first in your life. Even if sometimes you lose your footing and allow your selfishness to take hold, don't throw in the towel. Fight for her. Show him that you are determined to die for your selfish desires.

3- Accept that you don't really have the power to be successful on your own. Dying to oneself is impossible for any human will. You need more than discipline and persistence. Without the power of God, you will not be successful over time. Therefore, every day you must place your life in the hands of your Lord. Jesus said : “without Me you can do nothing” (John 15. 5), but you can “do anything through Him who strengthens you” (Ephesians 4:13). This is why Todd Isberner says that every husband needs to know this truth : if you are not ready to die for your wife, you will not be able to love her as Jesus loved the Church !
