In Christ, the blessing is irreversible

He (God) blessed, I will not revoke his decision. Numbers 23.20

City after city, the Israelites are conquering the Promised Land. As they approach Moab, Balak, one of the Moabite princes, hires a prophet named Balaam to cast a spell on the advancing armies of Israel. From the top of the mountain overlooking the enemy camp, Balak expects curses to pass Balaam’s lips.

But on the contrary, he hears blessings. As he worries about it, Balaam replies : "Behold, I have been ordered to bless : he has blessed, I will not revoke his decision. He sees no evil in Jacob, he does not see any harm. injustice in Israel. The Lord his God is with him" (Numbers 23: 20-21).

"God chose to see you 'in Christ'."

Is it because iniquity or wickedness is absent among the Israelites ? No. So how can God not see it ? For the same reasons that he ignores your mistakes and failures : because he chose to see you "in Christ" who is perfect, and whose precious blood has covered all your sins since you were born again.

Each evening, as they set up their camp, the Israelites pitched their tents in the shape of a large cross. Imagine eight tribes vertically and four horizontally. Do you see the blackboard ? As a redeemed child of God, this is how your Heavenly Father sees you. He looks at you through the cross. And since the blood of Jesus paid for each of the sins you may have committed, God considers you "adopted", "justified" and "perfect".

A blessing for today

Because God sees you in Christ, you are irreversibly blessed.
