In search of God (1)

“If you seek Me with all your heart, I will be found by you.” Jeremiah 29. 13

With the development of science in all fields, we have discovered many secrets of the world around us. Even if we do not yet really know the age or the origin of the universe, man has extended his discovery of this immense space in which we evolve in an incredible way. Medical research has advanced by leaps and bounds and allows us to understand more and more the mechanisms of our body. Modern man constantly seeks to know more about the sphere in which he evolves. His thirst for learning, discovering and understanding is immense. But his thirst for knowing God is far from equaling his desire for scientific research! Why ?

1- Because man, as he advanced in the discovery of the world in which he lives, began to glorify creation and its material or technological advances rather than the Creator of the universe, Himself the instigator of this thirst for discovery which is the prerogative of human intelligence.

2- Because God has established on His own initiative a limit to the knowledge that man can acquire of the complexity of His own person. Moses “knew” God as his friend. He discussed with Him, in the tent of meeting, as if he were in the presence of his best friend (Exodus 33:11). The Bible states "The Lord spoke to Moses face to face...", yet soon after, when Moses asks to "see" more of the divine personality, i.e., His glory, he replies that it is impossible, he will at most be able to see His glory once it has passed in front of him, and only “behind” (v. 23). Which isn't bad ! Ask yourself this question : “Are you thirsty to know God, even if you have to be content to see His glory from behind ?” Do you want it with all your heart ?
