In the city

In John 4, the Lord spoke to the Samaritan woman about the living water and she understood that no one on earth could find satisfaction without having this living water. Anyone who drinks only water from the well will be thirsty again. No matter how many times a man drank from this water, he will always be thirsty and never be satisfied. It is only by drinking the Lord's water that we can no longer be thirsty because then a spring will spring from us and satisfy us continually.

Only this inner source can give us true satisfaction. The Samaritan woman has married 5 times. She married one man after another, she changed husband 5 times, yet she was never satisfied. She drank constantly but she was never satisfied. Moreover, the man who was with her at the time was not her husband. She was definitely an unsatisfied person. But the Lord had living water that could satisfy her. When the Lord showed him who he was, and when she was satisfied with him, she left her pitcher and went into the city saying : "Come and see a man who told me all that I made; would it not be Christ ? (John 4:29)

His first reaction was to testify to others. What did she testify ? Christ. Maybe the people of the city knew some things about her, but there were probably a lot of things they did not know. Yet the Lord told him everything. She testified to others, saying :

"Is not it Christ ?". When she saw the Lord, she opened her mouth to invite others to come and see that he was the Christ. Thanks to the words of the Samaritan woman, many people believed in the Lord.

Every Christian has the obligation to be a witness, to present the Lord to others. The Lord has saved a lot of sinners like me. If he is not the Christ, who else can he be? If he is not the Son of God, who else can he be ? I can only open my mouth to declare it. I have to open my mouth to testify.
