In the name of freedom of expression, the struggle against taboos, the independence of art, the right to knowledge, in the name of so many other principles that seem attractive or generous, man rejects form of authority, refuses any constraint; above all, he wants to free himself from all that reminds him of God, the supreme authority. He relies on his own wisdom to organize his life, individual and collective. He does not hesitate to upset the laws or natural equilibriums and claims the right to engage in all experiments. As in the beginning, he listens to the voice that breathes "What, God said ?" And makes choices as he pleases.

But the order God has established can not be infringed with impunity. The disobedience of man always produces the same disorders and the same sufferings. Under civilized aspects, the world today is strangely similar to what it was at the dawn of humanity. Pride, egoism, injustice, corruption and violence are manifested on every occasion and in every latitude. Have we, in recent years, witnessed the renewal of unimaginable atrocities, wars that were believed to have passed, genuine genocides ? Even if voices are raised to denounce the most egregious abuses or abuses, even if sincere efforts are made to restore peace and justice to the world, it seems that an irresistible force drives men further into the world. disorder and evil.

Now God indicates, without any ambiguity, that the root of evil is not external to men, but that it is found in each of them. And if God enlightens man on his true moral state, he also proposes to him the remedy. God gives a new heart to all who believe in the Lord Jesus. His Word becomes for them the sure standard for all the circumstances of their lives.

Let us not be deceived by the pretensions and vain hopes of this world, but seek the directions that God gives us in His Word, that "we may live in the present time soberly, justly and piously" (Titus 2:12) awaiting the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
