Intercession : Learn to ask !

John 14.13 (NFC) - And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Son may manifest the glory of the Father.

What I liked about the biography of Hudson Taylor, a missionary to China and a peerless intercessor, was that he waited for a deep conviction before he began to ask. It was like a kind of authorization to ask for something specific, and the Lord always answered.

Isn't that a nice illustration of our verse for the day ? Isn't that the guarantee to ask in Jesus name the exact thing He will answer ? We are so quick to ask for many things, don't we need to learn to ask from His heart ? Finally, is there not an explanation for the many prayers left unanswered ?

Intercession goes far beyond making OUR needs known to God ! She goes much further than praying for others ! Intercession is asking the Father what Jesus Himself would ask ! De facto, to ask what Jesus would ask for requires a close knowledge of His desires. And this makes perfect sense : we can't do things on someone's behalf without having a specific mandate from that person. Intercession is praying the prayers of God !

Can we imagine that God has “needs” ? To seek is to want to find an answer to a lack ! God is looking for worshipers, God is looking for the lost and... He is looking for a man who will stand in the breach (Ezekiel 22:30). Isn't that crazy ? And how will His “needs” be met ? When a “disciple” goes to pray His prayer ! And this disciple, it can be you beloved !

In the face of all the challenges that are before us, it becomes necessary, not to say vital, to ask according to the heart of our wonderful Savior. A little less "bless me Lord" for a little more "manifest the glory of your Father Lord" !
