Stores, commercials, media, decorations ... You have been living for weeks in this festive atmosphere : Christmas. The consumer society has seized this date, whose meaning and origin are often forgotten.

God has stripped away everything to come to meet you and put an end to your loneliness.

Far from the family home, alone, without the help and comfort of the women around her, Mary gave birth to Jesus. In Bethlehem, the smallest village in the province of Judah, in the suburbs of Jerusalem, the Messiah, the messenger of God, was born in a simple stable because there was no room for him anymore. hotel. Worse, he will narrowly escape death and will be forced to flee abroad with his parents during his early years. Jesus experienced loneliness, poverty, rejection and hatred from birth.

And in this destitution, this indifference and this extreme violence, the arrival of this fragile little baby will upset the conventions and overturn the values. A mighty announcement sounds in heaven: God has stripped away everything to come to you and put an end to your loneliness. And he understands you perfectly because he has lived all that you live.

The gospel means good news. The good news of a God who is not incapable of understanding our weaknesses and sympathizing with us. On the contrary, he knew all our trials: in all respects, he was subjected absolutely to the same temptations as us and he remained without sin (Hebrews 4: 15).

How do you feel in this time of year ? Depressed ? Lonely ? Desperate ? Mourning ? Breeze ? Forget it ? No value ? So Christmas, the real Christmas is for you ! Jesus is the intimate and perfect gift of God, especially for you. You have value and you are so precious to God that he gave his own son to demonstrate it to you : Merry Christmas !
