Intimate with Jesus
Search the Scriptures
When he arrived at the house, he did not allow anyone to enter with him, except Peter, John and James, and the child's father and mother. Luke 8.51
During his ministry, Jesus spent a lot of time teaching the crowds. However, time and time again, he has demonstrated that he has a special interest in the development of personal relationships. He constantly devoted himself to smaller groups made up of only a few people. He spent time alone with his followers and with those who had special needs or wanted to know him more deeply. It was in such groups that he imparted many important teachings and performed memorable miracles.
Consider the case of Jairus, a man who had walked through the crowd to meet Jesus and "felt down at his feet." He begged Jesus to come into his house and heal his "dying" daughter. When they arrived at the man's house, Jesus only allowed Peter, James, John and the girl's parents to enter with him. It was there that, alone with Jesus, a great miracle happened.
In our time, many skeptics and cynics regard Jesus as a charlatan. They are like Herod who wanted to see Jesus only because he hoped to see him perform some miracle (Luke 23:8). They are like those who laughed at him when he was on the cross, saying : "He saved others, let him save himself" (Luke 23:35).
Today, remember that Jesus is neither a comedian nor a politician. He is your Savior and your Lord ! He desires to have a personal and intimate relationship with you. Dedicate your life to His service. Seek to be alone with him in quiet, private places. Let him know your questions and your needs. Ask him for wisdom and intelligence. Pray for revival and remember to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.
Listen the voice of God
Let's take the time to listen to what God wants to say. Jesus is neither a comedian nor a politician. He is your Lord and your Savior ! Let him demonstrate his love to you in the secret place.
Praying is simple. Speak to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is a sample prayer : "Jesus, I desire to have a more intimate relationship with you. Open my eyes. Change my life. Help me to serve and please you. Amen."
Praise God
Find something to be thankful for and take time during this day to thank the Lord for his loving presence in your life.
Act today
Jesus always sought in priority the relationship with those he met. Ask God to show you where to go, and enter into a relationship with that person, just to show him the love of the Lord.
Honor the Lord
Our journey for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.
"Thank you Lord because you are a God who loves simple and deep relationships. Yours is the reign, the power and the glory, amen !"
