Is the fire lit ? (6)
Matthew 5.15 - You don't light a lamp to put it under a bushel, but you put it on the candlestick, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
Another positive aspect of fire : is that of lighting. In New Testament times, a lamp was a flame fueled by oil, a small fire in fact. This flame that drives us is not meant to be hidden under anything, it is meant to light up the "world" around us.
Light has an extraordinary faculty : that of annihilating darkness. Even the smallest light chases away the deepest darkness! If every little fire of the Holy Spirit begins to shine, the whole nation can be enlightened.
Unfortunately, many of God's children are hiding under a bushel. The current situation, the "what will we say", some "firefighters"... prevent the "timid" from believing that they can enlighten this world, that they can change things, that at their level they can do anything. Yet, beloved, if you let yourself be set ablaze by the fire, you will light up the whole corner, and it can be huge, where you are.
We are the light of the world (Matthew 5:14), it is a given, Jesus Himself decreed it. Our step of faith is to no longer hide, to let ourselves be transported to "the candlestick", to accept to be used for the glory of our Lord. "Your Word is a lamp at my feet" said the psalmist (Psalm 119.105), let us remember that the bearers of the Word, the mouths of Jesus, are we beloved.
Good reflection.
