Isolate yourself in the silence !

Lamentations 3: 26 and 28 - It is good to silently hope for the deliverance that the Lord will send... May he isolate himself in silence when the Lord imposes a trial on him !

The prophet Jeremiah, the author of the book of Lamentations, is a man who suffered greatly. He was rejected by his generation, object of contempt and slander, he was imprisoned, humiliated, betrayed... All kinds of plots were hatched against him to destroy him. If there is anyone who can talk about an ordeal, it is he !

However, the advice he gives is : "Isolate yourself in the silence !". Our first instinct, and this is very human, when the ordeal reaches us is to speak and speak again : “Why me Lord ? I don't understand Lord. Help, rescue me. I don't want to live this, my God...”. I'm not saying it's a bad thing to make your heart known to God, but you will notice, that often, if not always, the Lord remains silent.

The real demonstration of faith is to silently hope for its intervention. To isolate oneself in a respectful silence to hear Him speak to us but also so that He consoles our hearts. Doesn't our God know what is happening to us ? Of course yes ! Is He caught off guard ? Of course not, He let us go through it and He has already prepared the way out (1 Corinthians 10:13). Silence before God destroys any claim, it is a sign of complete dependence, of total abandonment in his hands.

My beloved, let us reflect on this : the test, the trial has only one goal, to make us grow in faith ! It is not intended to destroy us as if the Lord wanted our loss : it is foolish to think that the God of Love can have this kind of project, right ? Let us pass the stage of lamentations to enter into the silent trust, the unrestrained abandonment of a sighing heart : “Lord, do with me what You want !".

Good reflection !
