Does your prayer take a long time to get an answer ? Do you see other people around you win victories, be touched and healed, experience miracles - while you remain in your suffering ? Are you impatient and angry with God, crying, "Why not me, O Lord ? Where is my miracle ? Why this delay ?" If so, you miss the point. The Lord is building your faith. He wants you to trust Him, no matter what the delay. He shows you that He can be at work to heal thousands around you and still have an eye on you !
When Jesus healed the woman with the loss of blood, Jairus, who was walking beside him, could certainly hear the incredible words He addressed to the woman who was bleeding : "My daughter, your faith has saved you ; Go in peace, and be healed of your evil" (Mark 5:34). On the other hand, I doubt he would have heard them, because a messenger came to him with a terrible message : "Your daughter is dead" (5:35).
Oh, what lies Satan had to whisper in Jairus' ear : "All for nothing. Jesus can do nothing for you. "And then the messenger added these terrible words : "Why bother the master more ?" Think of what was said to Jairus : "It is useless. It is too late for God to act. Thank you Jesus, but no thanks. You waited too long to help."
Doubt and anxiety filled the heart of Jairus. "You trusted in this Jesus, but He can not help you. It's time for you to go back to the synagogue."
But Jesus heard all that was going on. When He saw fear, despair and mourning on Jairus' face, He said to him : "Fear not, believe only" (5:36). I believe that Christ said to this crowd and to us today : "It is not enough to walk with Me, to appeal to Me and fall at My feet in repentance. You must trust me. You must believe that I give life to the dead."
