It's today !

Luke 13.14 - The head of the synagogue, indignant that Jesus had healed on the Sabbath day, spoke up and said to the crowd : “There are six days to work. So these are the days to come to be healed, and not on the Sabbath."

Jesus was teaching. At one point, He stops, He sees a woman possessed with a spirit of infirmity for 18 years, He calls out to her and heals her. This way of doing things greatly displeases the head of the synagogue, who will take over the crowd present.

We take offense at this man's attitude, but a lot of times don't we act the same ? Has it not happened that God wanted to act during a service but that the action of the Spirit was prevented because the service is to worship God, or because it will take too long ?, or because preaching is not praying for people, or because the manifestation of God's power “disturbs” the orderly order of worship... ?

My Beloved, if God cannot bless His people with graces of love when they come into His presence through worship, or through the proclamation of the Word, what is the point of meeting ? The only one that has a strong interest in the silencing of God's actions is the religious spirit. We have said it before : "The religious spirit and the living action of the Holy Spirit do not stick together !". We are not saying to do anything under the guise of freedom in the Holy Spirit, but let God be God and let Him lead our meetings.

For this woman, that day was His day. She was freed from a suffering she had "dragged on" for 18 years. Many of us are going to have worship this week. May this day be our day. And if we are "rulers", let the Holy Spirit do what He wants, who are we to stop Him from doing what He wants ?
