"Jesus is beautiful." I hesitated to use this phrase because it transmits so little of the power of the incredible reality of His glory. And I do not use "beautiful" the way we usually use it, that is, "Is not she pretty ?" Or "is not he a handsome boy ?" We can not measure the depth of Jesus' beauty - how glorious, surprising, wonderful, different and unique it is.
However, all His attributes urge us to talk about it again and again. Jesus is tender, good, precious. It is filled with majesty and splendor. He is wonderful, strong, powerful. He is intelligent, wise, understanding. And He never fails !
Jesus never makes mistakes, He is never weak and He is never dejected, even for a moment. He always listens to us and He is always our Advocate. He never pauses in his fight against Satan for us and never ceases to love us, even when we fail.
The Bible describes Jesus in a way we could never be described. Isaiah says there was no deception in Him, that is, He had no evil motives. He did not preach to attract crowds and did not heal to impress people. It is also said that He was tempted in every way, that is, He had to face all the fights that you and I are facing. But He is so beautiful that even in these temptations he remained without sin. In fact, He said to the Father : "I am glad to do Your will."
So how does Jesus describe Himself ? He says that He is gentle and humble of heart. But his use of the word "humble" does not mean "erased." His meaning is much deeper, suggesting that He voluntarily lowered Himself from His right place in heaven to become human. He has set aside His reign above to take on a form of dependent deity - so that as a man, He relies on the Father to make Him capable of performing all His divine activities on Earth. What humility! Who gives up power when he has it ? And no one had the kind of power Jesus possessed. What He did is beautiful !
