Jesus responds to a simple touch

As Jesus walked with Jairus, a leader of the synagogue of Capernaum, to his house to heal his daughter, they met a woman who was suffering from chronic hemorrhage. For twelve years this woman had bled without stopping and was dying slowly. Luke, a physician, writes that she "had spent all her property for the doctors, without any one being able to cure her" (Luke 8:43).

Jewish law states that such a woman is "ritually unclean." This woman saw many doctors who took all her money and promised to cure her, but after each appointment she returned home discouraged and His illness continued to worsen. After a moment, this woman had to think : "It's useless. My condition is hopeless. I will continue to suffer and die slowly.

Sadly, many Christians do exactly the same thing as this woman. They run wherever they offer answers and live under a cloud of fear because of their "impurity." Perhaps this describes you. You lived with a sin installed for so long that you think : "What about my horrible story of sin ? If Jesus heals completely, then there is bound to be something wrong with me. I do not belong to the Church. It is a holy place and I am not pure."

In chapter 5 of the Gospel of Mark, we see this woman who suffers to try again, persevering and hopeful. But this time, instead of seeing a doctor who can not cure her, she touched the edge of Jesus' garment. When she touched him, the Lord and Creator of the universe stopped for a moment and healed her instantly ! He wanted to use this moment to publicly remove his disgrace and show him that his faith had healed him. Jesus wanted to relieve this woman from her sense of defilement.

Advance with faith and touch Jesus for yourself, as this woman did. He will cure you. If you have a heavy heart, lay your burden at Jesus' feet. Then put all things in His hands. Do not be afraid, only believe !
