Judas and Simon Peter (4) - Encouragement

My sheep listen to my voice, I know them and they follow me. I give them eternal life. They will never perish and no one will be able to tear them from my hand. John 10. 27, 28

The story of Judas ends in a tragic way and calls out to us. That of Simon Peter encourages all believers.

Simon proclaimed that he loved Jesus enough to go with him even to death (Luke 22:33). But Jesus warns him that he is going to deny him three times... And what Jesus had announced happened : Simon denied Jesus three times in one night.

Jesus does not deal with Peter like Satan does with Judas. He prayed for him preventively. No sooner has Peter disowned him than he looks at him with love. After his resurrection, Jesus takes care of his disciple. What follows proves that Simon's relationship with Jesus is very real and restored.

Christian, you have the same master as Simon. Perhaps you have done wrong, and ignored Jesus' warnings ? Maybe you thought you could face the challenges with your own resources... and it all ended badly ?

Jesus is a good and faithful teacher who will never forsake you. To have you with him in eternal happiness, he paid a high price on the cross. He loves you ! Even in the worst of times, there is still hope for you who belong to Jesus.

In his epistle, Simon Peter happily calls himself "slave of Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 1.1). This relationship is for him a privilege and a claim to fame. He will end up as a martyr, and indeed give his life for his beloved master.

Do not be deceived by Satan, who does not wish you any good. But rather entrust your life to Jesus, to whom it is good to belong !
