(Jesus said) : Ask and you will receive, that your joy may be complete. John 16. 24
The peace of God, which is beyond anything that can be understood, will keep your heart and your mind in Jesus Christ. Philippians 4. 7
Just say it
Christian mother, I try to please the Lord in the way I bring up my children. Sometimes I find it difficult to stay calm when they are arguing. And I must sadly confess to the Lord my failures and my lack of patience.
One day when the children were particularly tiring, and I was exasperated, I lost my patience, and this time, instead of praying after the fact, as usual, accusing myself of having been wrongly angry again, I explode : "Lord, they are unbearable ! I'm tired, I've had enough ! But you know... Help me !"
This time then, I feel relieved and peaceful. I finally understand that the Lord desires a simple, direct and well-felt prayer, rather than continual confessions of my wrongs and my defeats, after the battle.
Since that day, instead of struggling on my own, I try to say things "as is" to her, as I feel them. "The Lord is near" (Philippians 4:5), he is ready to help, without reproaching and also to encourage us. He knows the inevitable nervous fatigue of a mother, and her difficulty in staying calm. He understands and delivers us in critical moments.
Let us learn to pray simply, let us tell the Lord how we feel, without unnecessary arrangements... Let us count on his kindness, on his understanding, on his interest in the small details of our days. He approves of the humble attitude of those who, recognizing their limits, appeal to him and rely on his grace.
