Keep me of evil

"Jaebets prayed," Preserve me from misfortune, so that I am not in suffering !" 1 Chronicles 4.9-10

 

The word "misery" (rah in Hebrew) means : "Evil, evil, evil, evil, evil, morally wrong, adversity, disaster." In other words, we could translate this portion of the Jaebets prayer by : "Keep me from practicing evil and being seduced by immoral values. Keep my heart from sinking into evil dispositions that would lead me to transgress Your precepts and to sin against heaven. " Often, great temptations follow a striking victory. Jaebets was aware of this and asked God to keep him from sin.
As your limits spread, your right to error decreases.

When I got my pastoral recognition, it was a great victory for me, because I was coming back from afar, with a busy past. After having celebrated with some pastoral friends in the restaurant, I went back to my hotel room. Quietly lying in bed, I turned on the television. I zapped to see what I was going to look at. Then I came across a chain of pornography. My eyes were absorbed a few seconds, then I pulled myself together and turned the camera off. The temptation was there, what to do ? I decided to get up and go get some fresh air.

Upon my return I went to bed again, hoping to fall asleep quickly. Suddenly I heard a door open, I opened my eyes and silence fell. Then I realized it was in the next room. The insulation was weak since a single door separated the two rooms (certainly intended to be rented to families : parents-children). I quickly realized that it was a couple that had just entered because I heard their frolics ... It was like I was with them! I had the sound without the picture. At that very moment I began to pray very loudly : "Lord, either you teleport my wife here, or you make me fall asleep very quickly ☺" I did not have time to say "amen" I fell asleep deeply. Yes, often when there are great victories, the temptation presents itself to rob you of your joy.

He who prays to live the blessing of God on his life, must also ask God to be kept from sin. Indeed, as your limits spread, your right to error diminishes.

A prayer for today

Lord, keep me from evil, preserve me from misfortune, amen.
