Keep yourself of the indebtedness

The rich dominates the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender. Proverbs 22.7

The Hebrew word for "servant" in Proverbs 22.7 literally means "slavery". In other words, the Bible tells us that the person who borrows is reduced to servitude.

"God warns his people to trust Him for all their needs."

Borrowing money is not a sin but it is not the best solution. Thirty-five or forty years ago, teaching that ministries and churches could start and be built without incurring debt was considered extremism. Most of the churches and ministries could be built with a variety of funding and I was able to help several ministries and churches pay their debts.

If I had to start a ministry today, I will not borrow money !

Now, Pastor Deborah and I have been free of debt for years. We have understood that the borrower is the slave of the lender (Proverbs 22: 7) and therefore we do not borrow money. If we can not pay cash, then we simply do not buy ; we wait and trust God until the funds arrive because the only one we should be the servant is the Almighty God.

An action for today

God warns his people to get rid of all debt, to avoid getting into debt, and to trust Him for all their needs. By doing so, he will be free to serve Him alone !
