Knowledge makes you proud !

1 Corinthians 8:1 - Knowledge makes you proud, but love edifies.

I really enjoy listening to messages coming from a doctor's ministry. It is very invigorating and the doctors know how to expose all the depth of the Word of God, giving to the smallest word, to the smallest detail, an unsuspected magnitude.

However, I must be careful and reflect on this question: is it my intellect that is fed or my mind ? We do not come back to the fact that unfortunately the people perish for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4.6) and that they need to be educated spiritually, nor on the fact that the Christian must use his renewed intelligence to have a minimum of common sense, but we want to talk about the danger of bringing everything down to reason alone.

When I ask myself the question : "Is my mind nourished ?" I mean : "Am I getting spiritual revelation from these teachings ?" Does the knowledge communicated to me find a practical application in my daily life ? Am I moving forward in my knowledge of God and His plans for MY life ?".

To take an example : I can know everything about an automobile, how a four-stroke engine works, the role of the gearbox, what is an ABS, an airbag, a traction or a propulsion, a 4x4, a sedan , a coupe or a pick up ! As long as I haven't turned the ignition key, engaged the gear, sloppy and accelerated (unless it's an automatic gearbox), I won't have advanced an inch !

My beloved, the Word of God is extremely intelligent. Meditating on it through study is an extraordinary richness if... it finds a practical application in my life and if my “spiritual man” receives substantial nourishment from it. I'm just asking you to remember the last deep sermon you heard : What are the fruits so far ? The doctor probably did his job, and you ?
