If these qualities are in you and are developing, they will not leave you inactive or barren for the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1: 8

We have just considered these last Saturdays the seven qualities that should be added to our faith in order for our Christian life to be truly successful. Is it sufficient ? You know very well not. So what is still missing ? Well, it takes practical exercises.

To travel by car, it is essential to be familiar with the highway code and to have understood all of its rules. You also need to know what the buttons or levers of the car are for, as well as the indications on the dashboard. There are detailed instructions to learn all of this. But can you drive if you know them by heart ? Certainly not ! You must first learn how to drive, then complete a lot of kilometers to really control your vehicle and react well in unforeseen situations and finally, maintain the practice of driving throughout your life.

So it is with you : knowledge of these qualities, like that of the Bible, is essential, but it is not sufficient to truly realize what it is to know our Lord Jesus Christ. It is necessary to practice, to live these seven virtues which mainly concern our relationships with others.

Peter gives us the assurance that if these things are in (us) and abound there, that is, if we do a lot of practical exercises, then we are not inactive : we are not wasting our time not do nothing. We are not sterile : we bear fruit, that is, we manifest in our life the characters of Jesus Christ.

For example, if you apply yourself, with the help of God, to be patient towards those close to you, you will find out what it costs you, you will better understand how patient the Lord has been. towards all and how much he is towards you. Your need for his help to remain patient in all circumstances will draw you closer to him and all this will make you progress in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is the successful Christian life !
