Let's proclaim the truth ! (3)
“Nations, hear the word of the Lord and proclaim it in the far isles !” Jeremiah 31. 10
In 1990, after Saddam Hussein's Iraq invasion of Kuwait, English preacher Derek Prince called on believers to proclaim loud and clear that Israel was still God's people and that He had promised to keep it and to defend it. It was based on this prophecy from Jeremiah : “Nations, hear the word of the Lord and speak it in the far isles !” Proclaim : "He who scattered Israel will gather them and keep them like a shepherd his flock”. In the word proclaim, from the Latin proclamare, we find originally the words clamor and clamor, hence the meaning of shouting, to announce aloud, like the town criers of the Middle Ages, important news. Derek Prince then drew a parallel between Islam which understood the spiritual importance of persistent proclamation in order to tightly control its devotees and the need for Christians to proclaim loudly that God has not forsaken His people. Derek went to join his Lord in 2003. But is there not a lesson for us today as we live in a time when Islam seeks to impose its law and its precepts in so many countries of the world ? As we know the Truth, in the person of Jesus, why don't we further proclaim our assurance that we know Him and thereby hold the truth ? Jesus explained to His disciples : “When a strong and well armed man guards his house, what he owns is safe. But, if another stronger than himself comes and overcomes him, he takes away all his weapons on which he relied and distributes his goods to others” (Luke 11. 21-22). Satan can be a “strong man,” Islam can be a formidable enemy, but we know that Jesus won the victory on the Cross followed by His resurrection. Do not doubt, do not lack confidence, on the contrary, proclaim the truth without fear of criticism and sarcasm. One day your prince will come and on that day every knee will bow before Him, with joy for many of us, by force for others.
