Let's see further !

"And who knows if it's not for a time like this that you [Esther] came to royalty ?" Esther 4. 14

Sometimes we do not understand why we are going through the circumstances. Sometimes we live things that we would not want to live; we have not chosen them, we have the impression that they impose themselves on us, that we have to deal with. And then, they are heavy : a disabling disease, the mourning of a loved one, a life of loneliness, a difficult profession to assume, a couple's life that disappoints us, a child who has not clearly accepted the salvation... No, it's not easy to live !

Then the fear of a worsening of the situation plagues you. In short, discouragement or fatigue, or both of us win...

In short, we need our energy, both spiritual and physical, to be renewed.

In the book that bears her name and tells her story, Esther appears to be full of questions, even of anguish (Est.4.4). Everything suggests that the situation is unfavorable to the possible : thirty days ago she was not called to enter the king (4. 11). If it enters of itself, it risks the death penalty, unless the king hands him the golden scepter ; but will he do it ? It is then that Mordecai invites Esther to question herself and to see further than the present circumstances. As a result, she feels the imperative need that all Jews fast for her. She asks Mordechai to gather all the Jews of Susa for three days of fasting. As a result, "the king gave Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand" (5: 2).

We too will do well to solicit the prayers and intercession of wise and trustworthy people when we are in a difficult situation.

We will honor God by waiting for his time, or by accepting his will, even if it does not correspond to our wishes. Be that as it may, "All things work together for the good of those who love God" (Rom 8: 28). The present sufferings or circumstances forge our soul for its glory (Rom.8: 18). Let's look at this glorious prospect ! Let us ask God to help us see "further", while walking "in a manner worthy of God who [calls us] to his own kingdom and glory" (1 Thess, 2. 12)!
