Let's talk Welcome

"So welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God." Romans 15.7

Welcome the other ; which program ! In this mission, it is important to understand that without love there can be no real welcome. We are in a society that tends to pit us against each other. All racism is exacerbated. Foreigners are singled out and threatened with fists. We talk about anti-white racism in the suburbs. The suburbs are being pitted against the better-off neighborhoods, the poor against the rich, the workers against the shareholders, the voters against the elected officials, and the list is endless. And the clans are pitting themselves against each other : it is who will put the most fuel on the fire. We are far from welcoming others and “Living together”. What hinders reception is fear of the other, especially if they are different. However, there are many differences, and there are many reasons to be afraid : he is not like me, does not think like me, does not have the same culture, believes things that I refuse, his conceptions are not not mine ; he is so different that he becomes threatening to who I am, what I believe, what I love, what my certainties are ! Yet the other is what he is, and his main thing is not in the differences. You cannot reduce a person to the differences he has from himself ! To welcome the other is to be open to what he is, and to what his history, his experience, his ideas, his loves, his sorrows, his dreams, his hopes and his limits have been. This is to attest that we are of the same humanity and that this humanity has only one origin : God. This is to admit that for him, too, Jesus died and rose again. It is to broaden one's horizons to share what gives meaning to life. As a Christian, it is to take into account the person in front of oneself, and ardently desire that he can live, like each one of us, of the love of God.
