Let the Lord do it

"But John was opposing it, saying : I am the one who needs to be baptized by you, and you come to me. Jesus answered him : Let us do now, for it is proper that we should do everything that Is right, and John no longer resisted him." Matthew 3.14-15

I have several versions of the Bible, one of which has the particularity of putting the words of Jesus in red. This is how I discovered that Jesus' first quotation throughout the New Testament is : "Let it be done now." Unbelievable ! Between the last book of the Old Testament and the New Testament there were about four hundred years of silence. During this time, the Hebrew people experienced major trauma and during the birth of Jesus, they are the subjects of the Roman Empire. They could not get out of it by their own means ... And there, Jesus will break centuries of silence by this word of unheard-of power. It is as if he were telling the crowd : "For years and years you have been trying to get by yourself, but in the end you are only adding suffering to your suffering. Now it is time to let go and let me act because I alone know what is right to do."

You must realize that there are things that belong only to God.

Have you ever tried to manage things for yourself ? You no longer have money, then someone proposes you a solution that is not very honest and you accept ... A man looks at you oddly because of your origins and there you insult him ... To a betrayal, you make evil for the Bad ... Today I encourage you to let God act because he alone knows what to do. Do not contradict God any more, imitate John, who, after opposing him, decided not to resist the Lord.

You must realize that there are things that belong only to God. For example, I am a preacher. I can prepare as best I can : pray, seek God's mind, make a slideshow, work my French, etc. But in the end it is only the Spirit of God that can produce the transformation of a character, deliverance or healing.

Trust the Lord, there is no better way to find the best solutions. Give up your fears, your anger, your misunderstandings. Maybe it's been days and days (even years) that you're struggling with a problem ? Today, your Savior comes to you and offers his help. Do not oppose him, do not resist but accept his help as a blessing. Yes, obviously, he alone knows what is proper to do.

A prayer for today

Lord, I do not oppose you any more and I make the decision to let you, amen.
