Let us be shaken !
Acts 10:14 (Free translations) – “Never, Lord,” answered Peter. "In all my life I have never eaten anything filthy or impure."
This reaction of Peter follows the vision of the tablecloth with all kinds of animals and God who tells him to kill and eat. Can we imagine the shock that this vision produced in Pierre. Everything he had believed, accepted, put into practice... since his earliest childhood went against this revelation. I'm sure many of us would have refused that vision by crying : "Get away from me, Satan !" However, we can bless God for the obedient approach of the apostle who thus opened the way to the conversion of non-Jews.
Following teachings, our experience, our own interpretation of the Word... we have forged convictions of who God is. But my question this morning is this : Is God really what we think He is ? Did He not say Himself : "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8 and 9).
After thinking about this question, let's ask ourselves another one : would I be willing to give up one of these beliefs to accept the truth that God wants to teach me ? Ultimately the answer will clearly tell us if we are teachable, malleable, non-religious... or not ! To tell the truth, if our revelation about who our God is has not evolved for several years, it is because we have remained “stuck” in a typical pattern.
God is God ! And He may surprise us, shake us, challenge us... at one time or another. It is perhaps for this reason that you exclaimed, in a particular circumstance of your life : “I don’t understand anything anymore !". Moreover, if this is your case today, come back to the intimacy of the room and the Lord will reveal himself to you. The "I don't understand anything anymore" serve to make us grow, to bring us a little closer to His heart, to enter another dimension... And that, beloved, is more than good !
Good reflection
